After the success of the first edition in 2022, the Musée de la musique-Philharmonie de Paris and Talents & Violon’celles are organizing the second edition of the International Lutherie Competition from 17th to 21th January 2024.
Open to “Talents of Today” for confirmed luthiers and “Talents of Tomorrow” for students of lutherie, this new edition will be dedicated to the violin with the same desire to promote the excellence of international lutherie and bring out future talents.

The instrument from the collection of the Musée de la musique, which will inspire the competitors in the “Talents of tomorrow” category, is the so-called “Sarasate” violin (inventory number E.1729).
The International Lutherie Competition will thus celebrate the 300 years of this instrument, made by Antonio Stradivari in Cremona in 1724: it belonged to the Count Cozio di Salabue and to two of the greatest virtuosos in the history of the violin, Niccolò Paganini and Pablo de Sarasate.
