Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian
Board Member, in charge of the Violin & Viola Collection
Jean-Marc is developing the violin and viola collection and he is in contact with musicians and violin makers. Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian studied violin at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP), where he was unanimously awarded the First Prize. He completed his training in Cremona and in New York at the Julliard School. The only European finalist in the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1990, he has won numerous prizes and performed in the most prestigious concert halls in Paris and throughout the world. He joined the Trio Wanderer in 1995, with whom he has since enjoyed a brilliant international career and made numerous outstanding recordings.
Simultaneously, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian continues to explore new musical repertoires in chamber music and jazz with such diverse personalities as Vahan Mardirossian, his brother Xavier Phillips, Henri Demarquette, Emmanuel Strosser, Elena Rozanova, the Psophos Quartet and Nicholas Angelich. With the famous accordionist Richard Galliano, he has formed a septet that performs in France, Europe, Argentina and at Carnegie Hall in New York.
